World’s largest ever fruit display

The world’s largest fruit display was completed on June 8 by Jewel-Osco in Westmont (US) in collaboration with Del Monte Fresh Produce. The display contained a record-breaking 35 tons of bananas. The record was confirmed by officials from the Guinness Book of World Records. Following official confirmation, Jewel-Osco staged a banana giveaway to customers and bystanders, with the remaining slated for donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.   

While this does seem like a lot to give away in one fell swoop, Jewel-Osco says its 188 stores stock nearly 65 tons of bananas per day.
