Vietnam looks set to allow Chile access for its cherries and grapefruit. This is great news for Chile given that record volumes of cherries are expected for the coming campaign, according to Chilean Fruit Exporters Association’s (ASOEX) Cherry Committee. Delegates from the two countries met on 16 October to move the agreement forward. Those present also discussed opening protocols for exporting Chilean blueberry and kiwi. Chile’s deputy secretary of agriculture, Alfonso Vargas, highlighted the potential of the Vietnam market:
“Vietnam, with more than 95 million inhabitants and a potential growth of its middle class, is a great destination for fruit exports from our country.”
