UNICA, the first Spanish fruit and vegetable producer with OAS certification for customs simplification
UNICA FRESH, S.L., dedicated to the marketing of fruits and vegetables, has received the certification of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) for customs simplification, which evaluates and regulates agents involved in foreign trade activities. UNICA is the first fruit and vegetable company in Spain to receive this certification.
The Director of Logistics at UNICA, José Galiano, highlights among its other advantages, “a reduction in physical controls and priority treatment if available.” Likewise, by being certified as an AEO, UNICA can “choose the place of customs inspection, clearing and the carrying out of documentary procedures for any merchandise that passes through any EU border post, benefiting from simplified customs procedures.”
The granting of the AEO for customs simplification implies that UNICA has previously complied with a series of requirements that make it a trusted agent of Spain’s State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT). It also must have a satisfactory record of compliance with customs requirements, an adequate administrative management system, demonstrated financial solvency, and an adequate level of professional competence or qualifications.
