Turkey’s 2022/23 cherry crop is projected to be up by 14% from last season to 980,000 tons. According to a USDA report, the increased production is due to the favourable weather conditions and improved yields. Meanwhile, Turkey’s peach and nectarine production is also forecast to be up (+6%) to 940,000 tons, once again due good growing conditions. Stone fruit exports are forecast to increase in parallel with the higher production in 2022/23. Turkey especially aims to increase its exports of fresh sweet cherries to South Korea, with technical negotiations between the two countries ongoing.
