The new products from Tozer Ibérica, presented at the “Tozer Days 2023”
Tozer Ibérica has chosen its open days, held at the ‘Los Olivos’ test field in El Albujón, between 14 and 16 February, to showcase the company’s new products. Tozer used this occasion to highlight 3 categories in which it shows how different it is to the rest of the market. “We listen to the needs of our customers, we keep up to date with the reality of the fields in terms of pests and diseases, we identify the improvements that our commercial seeds can present in terms of resistance and crop cycles, and we do our best to direct research and development towards those factors,” said José Carlos Grajeda, sales manager at Tozer Ibérica.
In the area of celery, Tozer Ibérica is one of the major players in the national market. Its latest variety, Cleopatra, was presented at this important annual event. Having a green colour, being compact and with good internal quality, Cleopatra stands out for being a slow-growing but robust variety, with harvesting up to two weeks earlier than other varieties in the same segment.
Tozer presented its most recent additions for the cavolo nero category: Mamba and Cobra. Highly uniform varieties, adapted to leaf cultivation, with planting cycles from September to December and high levels of heat tolerance. “These are very new products that have already been successfully marketed this year. With a view to the coming seasons, they will readily be available on the consumer market”, explained Grajeda.
As far as new spinach products are concerned, a speciality category for Tozer Ibérica in which it works in collaboration with the Dutch seed company Pop Vriend, three new types have been launched. Quartz, a dark-leaved, uniform-growing, high-yielding, fast-cycling variety; PV1723, a round-leaved, uniform, vigorous and robust spinach with a growing season from November to February and adapted to baby leaf, teen and cutting. And finally, PV1716, a variety with very good robustness in the fields, good yield, suitable for baby leaf and ideal for autumn and spring cultivation. These three varieties, all resistant to 1-19 and local forms of downy mildew, are added to a complete catalogue with more than 30 products.
Faithful to the development of varieties using natural techniques, Tozer Ibérica continues its research work to launch new products in the leek, coriander and rocket categories in 2023.
