Last weekend’s storms caused considerable damage to apple crops in the Seraj area of Mandi district in India. With the crop ready for harvesting, the sudden change in weather and strong winds are reported to have inflicted as much as 90% of the fruit.
Horticulture Department officials at Mandi have set up a team to assess the damage and send a report to the state government to apply for compensation for the affected farmers.
