Smaller Canadian apple harvest forecast
Tue 05/12/2023 by Richard Wilkinson
Canadian apple production is forecast to fall by three percent in 2023/24 due to adverse weather events across the main growing provinces. Pear production is forecast to grow slightly thanks to large volume fruit in Ontario and a good crop in British Columbia. FAS Ottawa forecasts production of table grapes to grow by two percent due to increased crop volume in Ontario. Canadian imports of fresh apples and pears are forecast to grow. Imports of fresh table grapes will be reduced, especially from the United States, resulting from adverse weather impacts on the California table grape crop.
