Polish produce enjoy growing popularity with Amplus
The major production company Amplus celebrated in 2022 30 years and keeps enjoying a growing demand for Polish produce. The group produces on a large scale berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, lettuces are the main varieties produced. It also markets the production of an apple group from Southern Poland in Sandomiersz. The group turnover achieves €280 million and handles 2000ha of crops in Poland. Amplus also imports citruses and other varieties not produced locally like garlic, green beans or sweet corn.
Major investments, more organics
The group produces 20ha of tomato and 10ha of strawberries under advanced glass greenhouse. It also invested in a major vertical hydroponic farm for lettuces of 1000m2 area and 12 growing levels, for a production capacity of 70,000 plants. Blueberries and raspberries plantations are being invested to supply the growing demand for Polish fresh berries. The group invested also in a modern warehouse of 40,000m2, with a capacity of 11 cold chambers of 1000 tons each, also a fleet of 200 own trucks. Amplus also started to supply the major retailers of Central Europe with an organic range of Polish varieties: apples, pickles, fresh sauerkraut, red bit, sweet corn. Organics make today between 3 and 5% of the Polish consumption, we have a growing demand for vegan products also” Said Henryk Kowalski, export director.
Growing shipments to Middle East and US
“We mainly supply Poland and other countries of Central Europe, we also started having a commercial development in Western Europe, our apple and specific pink tomato variety is growing in popularity” said Jacques Tarajczak sales manager. Amplus also started supplying overseas markets like MiddleEast, seduced by the original taste of the pink tomato, with a note of sweetness and strawberry. Shipments are also made to with the US with cooked red bit.
