2018 has so far been a good year for Peru’s avocado exports. In May of this year, avocado exports were worth 10% more than in the same period last year, reaching over US$140 million. Volumes rose by 14% to 64,000 tons, while average prices fell by 3%. The period from May to July is traditionally the most important one for the country’s avocado exports. In contrast with last year, the leading export company in May 2018 was Camet Trading with US$19.3 million worth of shipments. The Netherlands is far and away the most important export destination for Peruvian avocado, accounting for almost 50% of all shipments. Next comes Spain, the UK, the US and Chile.
