Peru’s banana exports volume remain unchanged

By and large, this year’s trends have very closely paralleled last year’s for Peru’s banana exports. So far this year, average monthly export volumes are almost the same as last year’s levels, with prices dipping marginally by 2%. However, in September export volumes dropped to their lowest level this year and were significantly down on the same period last year, indicating that the year may not end as positively as it began.
The main export organisations have all maintained the share of the market they held last year, with Cooperative Agraria Appbosa leading the way, followed by the Querecotillo small producers’ association. Overall, the Netherlands is the largest market for Peruvian bananas followed closely by the US.
