New Zealand avocado sector endures difficult two years

Exports of New Zealand avocados were far lower than anticipated in the 2022-23 campaign owing to weather damage to the country’s crop. With the current season ending this month, shipments were down to around 2.6 million 5.5kg trays, just over half of the estimated figure. A great deal of product has been redirected to the local market, which has led to an increase in domestic consumption.
This and other issues will be on the table at the 10th edition of the World Avocado Congress (WAC), which is scheduled to take place between April 2-5 in Auckland, New Zealand.
