Macfrut 2018 will host the first Tropical Fruit Congress
Next year’s Macfrut exposition will play host to all the leading lights of the world’s avocado and mango sector. For the first time, at Macfrut in Rimini, the Tropical Fruit Congress will be held, over two days (10th and 11th May 2018), the first meeting of its kind anywhere in Europe dedicated to these exotic fruits.
The congress will explore the current market trends and take a closer look at scientific developments, the latest technology and sales methods. The forum will focus especially on the Italian, German and French markets for avocado and mango.
In recent years, according to WAO (World Avocado Organisation) data in 2015, Europeans consumed over 350,000 tons of avocado. In 2016, consumption increased by 10%, and the figure is expected to rise by 15% in 2017. In Italy alone, in the last year avocado consumption has soared by 76%. Mango consumption has seen a similar boom in Italy, growing by 22% in the first 3 months of 2017.
