La Coma with new generations of varieties
Under the La Coma brand, the Sant Miquel Fruit company trades around 40,000 tons of stone fruit, covering the entire range of flat and round varieties, with produce available from May to October.
“However, this year, we’ve even had fruit since April, as the harvest came in early,” said sales director Carlos Lozano.
Good size, premium presentation and optimum internal product quality are some of the features bringing prestige to the La Coma brand, both in Spain and Europe. “We aim to give our customers the best of the best.
Top quality through a personalised service has always been the mainstay of our company,” Lozano said.
Proof of this is the intense varietal renewal process that started up in 2008, which led to a significant part of the produce traded today consisting of new generations of varieties sharing the same intense colour and full flavour features.
“We are now more visible than ever, because we have the best fruit and a much longer supply calendar,” Lozano said.
“Although in recent years Russia and Brazil have been our main non-EU customers, both markets have currently run out of steam. But the closure of these markets has given us a great opportunity to open up new ones that could take up the demand for these volumes,” he said.
