Japan’s cherry crop rebounds

Japan’s 2022/23 cherry production has recovered following last year’s frost-damaged campaign, while peach and nectarine production continues to expand. According to a USDA report, stone fruit consumption in the country has remained steady during the Covid-19 pandemic, as domestic production continues to determine the availability of cherries and peaches. Nectarine imports remain stagnant, while imports of US sweet cherries have plummeted due to increased prices.
