Rough hurricane damaged trees and destroyed infrastructure of Sad Giant, the largest Russian apple producer in Krasnodar region. According to local authorities, the losses may exceed 250,000 euro, informs Tass media agency.
“Apple trees grown at 9 to 10 ha (some 800 tons of apples) and irrigation systems have been completely broken,” stated E. Pismak, vice-head of local administration. “The producer will have to plant again the orchard, it means the trees will bring fruit some years later,” he said.
It is curious that the hurricane did not damage any other facilities.
