France’s tomato season opens with downward pressure on prices

Meanwhile, the market was flooded with imported tomatoes at highly competitive prices, which drove average prices down. Between April 5th and 19th, the tomato market was declared to be in a cyclical crisis. By the end of April, the market had gradually restored a certain balance. The weather was more conducive to consumption and promotional campaigns were enlivening the market. Prices are now rising again across all varieties.
