Coronavirus outbreak causes event delays and cancellations
Several major events in the fresh produce calendar have either been postponed or cancelled due to concerns about the spreading Coronavirus. Unsurprisingly, events scheduled to take place in Italy have been greatly affected. The country’s largest fresh produce fair, Macfrut, has been moved back from May until 8-10 September, while the Verona exhibition Sol & Agrifood has been postponed from 19-22 April to 14-17 June, and Cibus in Parma from 11-14 May to 1-4 September. Germany has postponed three events, with the new dates still to be confirmed: BioWest in Düsseldorf; BioOst in Leipzig; and Gastro Vision in Hamburg. Meanwhile, Greece’s Freskon expo, scheduled for 2-4 April, has been cancelled. Tokyo’s 45th annual food and beverage exhibition Foodex Japan scheduled for 10-13 March was also cancelled.
