Colombia’s Caribbean banana exports up 2% in 2022
Despite a country-wide drop of 7% in banana exports from Colombia due to a combination of weather, phytosanitary factors, domestic prices and drug trafficking, the country’s Caribbean region increased shipments by 2%.

For banana producers and traders in the Caribbean departments of Magdalena, Cesar and La Guajira, it is imperative to continue working together with the national government to contain the spread of Fusarium R4T and the threat of cargo contamination by drug traffickers. Preliminary figures indicate that approximately 1.83m tons of bananas were exported from Colombia in 2022 (source: ASBAMA), with around 884,000 tons exported from the Colombian Caribbean banana region.
