With over 7,000 containers loaded with Chilean cherries arriving in Hong Kong’s port over this period, the current slow customs clearance is a real problem, according to industry insiders. While the market is good for now and prices solid, the biggest problem traders face is the slow movement at arrival ports, with thousands of containers waiting to be unloaded. Chile expects to export a record volume of cherries to China this season.
