Luxembourg-based carrier Cargolux achieved record results in 2021, when its revenues totalled US$4.4 billion, an increase of 40% over 2020. Profits after tax reached US$1.3 billion, an increase of 68% over 2020, reports Moa Sigurdardottir, head of corporate communications. Once again, Cargolux has strengthened its position as one of the world’s leading air cargo experts, ranked #5 in IATA’s top cargo carriers based on international freight ton kilometres flown. At the beginning of this year, the firm had a fleet of 30 aircraft: 16 Boeing 747-400 freighters and 14 Boeing 747-8 freighters. In an attempt to mitigate the impact of its operations on climate change, Cargolux is now using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
