Banana Roadshow 2022: New flavors and textures of Ecuadorian bananas to reconquer Europe
Since the last century, Ecuador has been the largest banana exporter in the world, an achievement that has been affected only in critical stages such as the one we are currently experiencing. The prestige of the banana sector, made up of farmers, exporters, suppliers and the entire value chain, implies being even stronger in times of crisis. Given this situation, stimulating consumption at a global level, opening and reconquering new markets becomes a priority challenge for AEBE and the banana export sector.
The presence of Ecuador in the world is the key to generate new moments and spaces for the country’s banana activity and particularly with the promotion of the BANANA CULINARY GUIDE, a project developed in conjunction with the Escuela de Los Chefs. It is for this reason that AEBE has organized the Banana Roadshow 2022, which will have as destinations two attractive consumer hubs and European showcases of flavor and good gourmet, such as France and Spain.
Representatives from AEBE and Escuela de Los Chefs will be present in these two countries from the last week of September to the first week of October (Sept 27-Oct 7) to offer two Master Classes, one at Ferrandí Ecole de Cuisine (Paris) and another at the Escuela de Hotelería y Turismo de Madrid, sharing the experience of preparing dishes that are the result of several months of research. As part of the agenda there will also be visits to Parisian restaurants with Michelin stars, business dinners and two conferences within the framework of Fruit Attraction Madrid 2022.
The objective of the Banana Roadshow 2022 is to promote the quality of Ecuadorian bananas, the competitive advantages and the delicacies that can be made with the fruit, in an exhibition and selective environment where people and entities related to the consumption of our flagship fruit meet.
AEBE has a long history of opening and consolidating world markets and its management has traveled to the most ambitious destinations on five continents. For this new challenge, an institutional team has been formed made up of the main directors of the association, who assume the direction and general coordination of the event. On the other hand, the most outstanding professionals in the culinary area, nutrition and food science, chefs and other talents with proven capacity and suitability, not only nationally but also internationally, have been summoned.
Team Ecuador for the Banana Road Show 2022 is made up of:
- Javier Ponce | Executive Chef of the event | Graduate of the Ferrandi Ecole de Cuisine and current Executive Chef of the Bankers Club
- Daniela Valverde | Research and Products Coordinator | Escuela de Los Chefs
- Andres Granda | General Coordinator of Gastronomy | Escuela de Los Chefs
- Paola Vera | Audiovisual producer and food styling | Escuela de Los Chefs

The BANANA ROADSHOW 2022 commercial strategy is a priority for AEBE, an association that has made the main talents of its organization available to the event in order to ensure success. We aspire to maintain world leadership in the commercialization of bananas and promote new uses, greater consumption and the promotion of the benefits of this iconic fruit of the country. It is worth noting the great support received for the event by the 47 main partners of the association and the 48 adherent partners that support our management.
Similarly, we thank Pro Ecuador for its collaboration in calling and coverage with its Commercial Offices in Spain and France, as well as the Embassies of Ecuador in these two countries.
