Argentina’s citrus production to rise in 2017/2018

Argentina’s experts predict that overall fresh citrus production will increase this year thanks to the favourable weather conditions in the country. As for exports, volumes of lemons shipped overseas are expected to increase slightly as a result of the greater output, while orange and tangerine exports will be below historical averages due to the lack of competitiveness in the export sector. Domestic consumption is projected to rise significantly for oranges and tangerines in line with the greater availability of the fruit. Argentina’s lemons can once again enter the US market as of August 2017, with the first shipments expected to arrive in April 2018.
