Apple production is set to increase marginally from the already large 2022/23 crop while table grape production is projected to increase by 1%, according to USDA data. Mexico’s small pear output is estimated to decrease slightly. High food price inflation remains an issue for households and domestic consumption of pears is projected down while apple and grape consumption is forecast to increase only slightly. Despite domestic production overcoming drought and climate challenges across all three crops in the current season, these factors could create wider annual variances in the future.
