Aldi to open 100 new stores across UK

Discount retailer Aldi enjoyed its best ever Christmas period in the UK, attracting more than half a million new customers, with excellent sales of its private label range. Now, Aldi has announced the opening of 100 new stores across the country. Aldi increased its total sales by 0.4% in the month of December compared to the same period last year and 8.1% more than before the pandemic in 2019. UK shoppers are increasingly turning to discounters to cope with rising grocery inflation, which topped 3.5% in December, adding £15 (around €18) to the monthly shopping basket.
