Alcampo range of organic strawberries 

Alcampo has expanded the offer of its early strawberry of the candela variety of its Alcampo Controlled Production brand, incorporating a 1-kg box in addition to the 400-gram box introduced in 2020. Candela is a new variety of strawberry with an intense red colour and a sweet flavour obtained following traditional and natural methods, in an ambitious R&D project launched by the supplier PLUS BERRIES-AGRO MARTIN 10 years ago and which aims to provide the group of own varieties of berries with high quality standards, adapted to the different marketing areas and the preferences and tastes of the consumer in each area. This strawberry is produced in the Huelva town of Lepe, where the supplier, who dedicates 10 hectares to Alcampo, prioritizes pest control through biological control over the use of chemicals. 

In addition, the retailer participates in two projects to offset the carbon emissions generated during the cultivation of the product until its arrival at the store, one of them to protect the forests of the Madre de Dios region of the Vilcabamba-Amboró Corridor in Peru and another developed in Kompong Chnang (Cambodia) to purify water through ceramic filtration systems.
