AgroFresh provides tools for fruit quality management in Asian market

AgroFresh has developed an innovative solution to boost storage potential. The award-winning active ingredient 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is similar to ethylene, a naturally occurring hormone that causes fruit to ripen. SmartFresh™ interacts with ethylene-sensitive sites in the fruit to manage responses to internal and external ethylene sources.

“This puts the ripening process ‘on hold’ so that it occurs much more slowly,” said AgroFresh chief technology officer Duncan Aust and global core portfolio director Nathalie Gocha.
