China reviews pesticide limits in foods

At the end of 2020, the Crop Production Department of China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) released a new draft national food safety standard, outlining maximum residue limits for 75 pesticides (including 2,4-D-dimethylamine) in foods. The draft standard provides 212 maximum residue limits (MRLs) for a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, oilseeds, and plant-based beverages. China is expected to notify the draft MRLs to the WTO SPS Committee following the domestic comment period.
