Migros implements blockchain
Swiss supermarket chain Migros has joined other retailers in implementing TE-food’s blockchain solutions to provide greater safety and transparency in the food industry. Recent times have seen a rise in cases of food contamination in the country. Concerns have grown regarding lab-grown vegetables, synthetic food substances, and inorganic seafood and meat substitutes. TE-food’s blockchain solutions provide greater food traceability and allow supermarkets to add value to the overall supply chain through easier product tracking and recalls. With a more in-depth insight into the supply chain processes, Migros will gain better control over its production and distribution through optimised operations management systems.
By fast-tracking the supply and distribution processes, this should reduce food wastage through recalls. French retailer Auchan already uses the technology to track the pig supply and beer products.
