CASI redoubles commitment to organic farming this campaign
CASI has doubled its organic area for this campaign, already exceeding 100ha. The cooperative currently has 50 certified members and 20 partners, with production area undergoing conversion, so the organic acreage will continue to grow. In the words of the technical manager of CASI’s organic department, Teresa Camacho, “This is a very important project for CASI, which our partners are welcoming with great enthusiasm. Proof of this is that we are growing each year with natural products that are healthy and respectful of the environment.”
Many of the producers included in the Bio project are already working to take a further step towards biodynamics. At the moment, 30 partners have already completed the corresponding course. In addition, there are already four farms in the ‘Demeter’ certification process. This transition has a duration of two years, so it will be fully certified in February 2,020. It covers around 6ha of pepper and cherry tomatoes, located in the area of Retamar (Almería). Camacho said, “We are so convinced that this line has a future that we are taking a step further, towards biodynamics, which is a system that goes beyond organic certification, it is the philosophy most committed to natural resources.”
