Interfel invites Fruit Attraction visitors to experience Le Tour Frais
French fruit association Interfel is drawing inspiration from the country’s world-famous cycle race, the Tour de France, for its participation in next month’s Fruit Attraction in Madrid.
“Le Tour Frais” is a staged tour in the purest style of the Tour de France in which each stop will be one of the 14 associate stands that make up France’s participation at the fair. By scanning the QR code found on each stand, professional visitors will be eligible for the grand prize: a trip for two to Paris. Le Tour Frais is also a reference to Interfel’s emblematic Eiffel Tower, which, made with fresh fruits and vegetables, which will once again preside over this year’s exhibition.
The French delegation is made up of a total of 112 companies, occupying more than 2,200m2 of Pavilion 6.
“The fair has been growing and so has our presence there. For our associates it is an opportunity to meet with customers while for Interfel it is an opportunity to make our fresh fruit and vegetables better known and continue discussions with our counterparts in the European Union,” said Interfel’s international director Daniel Soares. “Thus, Fruit Attraction is a key event with a double purpose: a commercial one for our companies and another political one for our organisation.”
The companies attending the fair with Interfel are Blue Whale, the Demain la Terre collective, Dunkerke Port, Edenys, FDA International, Fruidor, Harmonie, Innatis, Interfel, MyLord, Nergi, Oscar Kiwi, Prince de Bretagne and Saveol.
The interprofessional pavilion will also have an open kitchen where chef Charles Soussin will cook up delicacies based on fruits and vegetables every day with typical recipes from the French regions.
Furthermore, on the first day of the fair, starting at 11:30, the gastronomic influencer and Masterchef ambassador, Celeste García de la Banda, will accompany the French chef in a cooking show that will serve as the official inauguration of the pavilion.
“We are confident that this edition, our 13th participation in Fruit Attraction, will be very successful for all our associates. We are convinced that the freshness, quality and variety of our fruits and vegetables will delight all professional visitors who come to taste them in our space,” Soares said.
France is the fourth fruit and vegetable producing country in the European Union, behind Spain, Italy and Poland. In 2022, French exports of fresh fruits and vegetables exceeded 2.128m tonnes, the main destination being the EU market.
Around 23 per cent of French vegetable production and up to 30 per cent of fruit production is dedicated to export. French apples are also shipped to countries in the Middle East, Asia and South America.
