Mission Produce to open new UK forward distribution centre in 2023

Announced last September, Mission Produce plans to open a state-of-the-art ripening, packing and forward distribution centre (FDC) in the UK in the spring of 2023. Featuring the company’s cutting-edge “Mission Control” ripening room technology, the facility is designed to serve both retail and foodservice customers in the UK with custom-ripe avocado and mango programmes. “Mission Produce UK is leveraging the company’s vertical integration, production and logistics capabilities, as well as retail expertise, to deliver high-quality fruit to our UK customer base,” said Mission Produce UK sales director Luke Stockdale. Mission’s new distribution centre of 102,000-square-feet is strategically located near the UK’s largest ports and airports and at the intersection of the country’s extensive transportation networks, with direct access to the M25.
