Weather ravages Chile’s avocado crop
Tue 04/04/2023 by Richard Wilkinson
Chile’s 2023 avocado crop is projected to fall 30% compared to 2022. The estimated total volume of 155,000 tons (source: Avocado Committee) is well below the 220,000 tons of the 2022 campaign, and also down 16% compared to the 186,000 tons projected in the previous estimate by the committee.
Adverse weather, particularly the frosts of September 2022, have severely impacted this season’s harvest.
