FEDEMCO strengthens its alliance with AIDIMME
The members of the Executive Committee of FEDEMCO, headed by its President, Enrique Soler Segrelles, have visited the facilities of the Technological Institute AIDIMME, Technological Institute of Metalworking, Furniture, Wood, Packaging and Related Industries. This is a technical and institutional visit with the double objective of reinforcing the collaborations and synergies between the two institutions and improving the studies and certification systems that the Institute carries out on the packaging and materials of FEDEMCO members.
During the visit to AIDIMME, its President, Fernando Saludes García, pointed out that “collaboration between technological institutes, sectoral federations and administrations is essential to support companies, especially small and medium-sized SMEs, which take on the challenge of innovating and certifying their products, thus increasing their value. We know that certification and the circular economy are crucial for the wood packaging sector, which is in the midst of new legislation at national and European level”.
FEDEMCO has recognised that, in AIDIMME, companies in the wood sector have found the right technological partner for the development of their R+D+i projects, as well as a certification body for solvency that must be appreciated not only at national level but also at international level. For this reason FEDEMCO’s president, Enrique Soler, has asked to be actively involved in the life of the Institute, either as FEDEMCO has done in the past as a member of the Board of Directors or as one of the Institute’s industrialists.
AIDIMME currently certifies FEDEMCO members with the GROW QUALITY* quality seal, and the meeting was used to update some of its technical aspects and to review the analyses that differentiate wooden packaging from other materials. It also provides the SEGURIDAD DE CONTACTO ALIMENTARIO (Food contact safety) mark, which guarantees compliance with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 2023/2006 and safe migration limits.
The day ended with a proposal for collaboration between the two organisations and a collaboration agreement that will enable a more active relationship to be established between the associations as well as a fluid working relationship to improve assistance to members and thus improve their competitiveness.
This meeting was held on the eve of one of the most important European events for FEDEMCO, the fruit and vegetable fair FRUIT LOGISTICA. The international event, which takes place in Berlin from 8 to 10 February, will serve as a showcase for Spanish wooden packaging and will be a meeting point for manufacturers, producers and retailers. The association has a large exhibition space of 44m2, located in hall 11.2 (B-41).
