CASI makes decisive shift to organics

Spanish fruit and vegetable cooperative CASI’s organic range continues to grow in response to the increase in market demand. “Our farmers are investing more and more in this type of farming to produce organic tomato, watermelon, courgette and pepper. In fact, the Cooperative’s Sweet Palermo variety of pepper is its flagship product. Although CASI’s conventional production is endorsed by multiple environmental and food safety certifications, it has decided to continue its shift towards organics, where at present there is greater demand than supply. One reason for this is that many producing countries do not possess the know-how required for organic production. Therefore, CASI is now launching itself fully into this sector and attended the world’s leading fair for organics, held in Nuremberg from February 14 to 17. A delegation from CASI held meetings with distributors from Central and Eastern Europe looking for suppliers.
