SHAFE hopes to see return of Brazil

This year, as every year, a meeting of the Southern Hemisphere Association of Fresh Fruit Exporters (SHAFE) took place at Fruit Logistica in Berlin. Six of the seven members were in attendance (Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa, Peru and Uruguay), with only Australia missing, The group shared ideas and their experiences, and prepared collaborative plans to meet the challenges that await. One issue that was given a great deal of attention was how to bring Brazil back into the association. Data distributed at the meeting highlight the continued growth of Southern Hemisphere exports and South Africa’s continued dominant position as the number-one fresh fruit exporter in volume terms.
