Primafrio renews the Ecological Fleet Certificate granted by AEGFA
Primafrio, the leading European logistics and road transport operator for fruit and vegetable products at controlled temperatures, has renewed its 2022 Ecological Fleet Certification included in the “Ecological Fleet Accreditation” programme.
This seal has been awarded by AEGFA (Spanish Association of Automobile Fleet Managers), in collaboration with IDAE (Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving, attached to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge), and aimed at public and private fleets that wish to distinguish themselves by improving energy efficiency and reducing polluting and greenhouse emissions.
In accordance with the provisions of the Improvement Programme to which Primafrio adhered in 2021, AEGFA has again studied the different improvement actions that the logistics operator has implemented during this period to ratify that the objectives required to obtain the certificate have been met.
The programme developed by AEGFA has the objective of corroborating compliance with the measures adopted by the companies that adhere to it, as well as measuring their impact, and helping them develop new initiatives, accompanying them in the process of implementing them.
In the words of Adrián Valverde, head of R+D+i at Grupo Primafrio, “This renewed certificate confirms that we continue to work intensively on the implementation of measures to combat climate change, achieving major results in the path. Thanks to the Ecological Fleet Programme, we will continue contributing to the care and protection of the environment, reducing energy consumption and neutralizing our emissions.”
Grupo Primafrio has been working for years to reduce the impact generated by its activity on the environment through an action programme aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
One of the company’s greatest commitments is to be sustainable, as well as comply with the highest standards of care and protection of the environment. For this reason, different lines of action have been implemented that aim to offer services that promote a circular economy, the use of more efficient energy sources, the decarbonisation of the logistics and transport sector and the neutralisation of emissions. .
In this sense, Grupo Primafrio has an ambitious strategic plan within its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, in which new technological advances have been implemented to reinforce the training of its drivers, which includes a new virtual driving simulator, integrated into its Efficient Driving and Training Programme, to improve drivers’ skills in terms of road safety and efficient driving.
In order to reinforce its commitment to sustainability, Primafrio, currently positioned among the top-6 companies in the logistics and transport sector with the best ESG rating worldwide, is engaged in different initiatives and projects of an international nature, such as the development of a more efficient long-distance propulsion system, or the commitment to sustainable logistics through AECOC’s international initiative Lean & Green.
In addition, the headquarters of Grupo Primafrio, located in Alhama de Murcia, is reinforcing the company’s commitment through generation systems and use of its own resources, allowing the plant to generate its own energy and reduce consumption by 40%, as well as use and recycle water, applying the circular economy in all processes.
