Countdown to PROGNOSFRUIT 2022
The countdown begins to the Prognosfruit Conference, Europe’s leading annual event for the apple and pear sector, is right around the corner. On 3-5 August 2022, it will gather leaders of the apples and pears sector from across Europe and beyond. Close to 200 representatives from 20 countries will join for the first time after two years of online meetings. Registrations are still open for sector representatives interested to get the latest updates on the preparations for the upcoming apple and pear season.
This year’s three-day event will include the release of the apple and pear crop forecast report, as representatives discuss the Northern Hemisphere situation as well as global perspectives for apples and pears. Philippe Binard, Secretary General of WAPA, said: “Prognosfruit is taking place in a moment of great uncertainty, with mixed production forecast on the various continents of the Northern Hemisphere. The 2021 season is ending with a lot of pressure on the processing and export market and consumption is under pressure. Prognosfruit will be the ideal place to meet, to network, and capture the dynamics for the new season.” This year, Prognosfruit will not only extensively cover the upcoming European apples and pears production and market trends, as usual, but it will also look more in detail at the apples and pears trends in the EU neighbourhood as well as the USA and in China. Simultaneous translation will be provided in Italian French, German, and Serbian.
An attractive networking programme is also expecting the delegate. Julka Toskic, Manager of Serbia Does Apples added: “We are pleased to welcome the delegates on the eve of the conference at Belgrade’s Royal Palace. The Gala Dinner will be hosted in the prestigious Belgrade citadel at Kalemegdanska terasa, in the city’s fortress. Finally, delegates will also discover the Serbian apple orchard Atos Fructum, on the southern slope of Fruška Gora, whose facilities are combined with a winery”.
