Grupo Agroponiente reduces carbon footprint by 46% in one year
Grupo Agroponiente continues to develop its sustainable strategy that, for years, has had a far-reaching effect on all areas, activities and projects of the company, forming a common and joint commitment to the environment, sustainability and the future of our planet.
It is not, therefore, a matter of isolated actions but of a general strategy in which clear objectives and concrete actions are reflected, resulting in a profound change in the company. In the last year, Grupo Agroponiente has managed to reduce its carbon footprint by no less than 46%, which means far exceeding the objectives initially set.
But the achievements do not end there – far from it. The company has managed to ensure that all the electricity it uses comes from renewable energies, which will make it possible for this reduction in carbon footprint to be much more pronounced in this year’s balance.
In addition, the company has also implemented a system for measuring carbon footprint by product, and has already completed measurements for tomatoes and peppers. For peppers, the firm reduced CO2 emissions by 3,791.3 tons, equivalent to the emissions of four cars a year.
