Forecasts in Peru indicate an 8-10% increase y-o-y in the country’s shipments of avocado, according to data released by the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa). In 2021, Peru’s avocado exports were up by 30% to over 550,000 tons.
Peru is now the world’s second-largest exporter of avocado behind Mexico. The Netherlands remains the main destination, receiving approximately a third of Peru’s avocado exports, followed by Spain and North America, both with a share of over 16%.
Transportation strikes in Peru at the end of March/early April this year had a significant impact on exports.
