Peruvian blueberries gain access to Malaysia and India

Peru’s blueberries can now be sold in Malaysia and India, with the latter also granting access to Peruvian citrus. Peru’s SENASA reported that the agriculture departments of both countries have confirmed the phytosanitary requirements for the import of these fruits. Peruvian blueberry producers will be allowed to start exporting fruit to Malaysia in 2021, subject to the protocol.

Miguel Quevedo Valle, head of SENASA, said:

“We remain committed to the agricultural development of the country, this time, with access to new markets for national fruit production, providing our farmers with more market opportunities and alternatives for marketing.” 

In India, the world’s second most populous country, the government published the phytosanitary requirements for the import of Peruvian citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit, mandarin and lemon) and fresh blueberries following a public consultation period.
