Iranian fruit exports to surpass 2 million tons

Iranian officials project that the country’s fruit exports will exceed 2 million tons in the year ending in March 2022, according to the ILNA news agency. Director of the Tehran Fruit and Vegetable Traders Union Mostafa Daraei-Nejad told tehrantimes.com that total production will be 4.5 million tons, of which 2.5 million will be consumed domestically and another 2 million will be destined for export. The main export markets are Russia, Iraq, Armenia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

According to the deputy director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the export value of agricultural products from Iran grew by 9% during the first four months of the Iranian calendar (March 2021 to July 2021), compared to the same period last year,

The main exported products were tomatoes, pistachios, watermelons, tomato paste, apples, melons, and dates.
