Plunging blackberry prices in US

After fetching very high prices at the beginning of the season, blackberry prices in the US market have recently entered free fall. Prices in week 15 this year were at a record high of US$22.10 per 12×6 container, which is 187% higher than at the same point in 2020. The factors determining these high prices are mainly demand-related, with consumption up of many fruits that are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, prices began to plummet from week 21, and in week 33 of this year, the average blackberry price was around 51% lower than in 2020 at $8.98 per container.
