Chile will be the guest of honor at the 2021 SH Int’l Fruit Expo
At the Shanghai International Fruit Expo in August 2021, Chile will be the guest of honour, and the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) will represent Chile in this event.
ASOEX is a non-profit association representing Chilean fruit growers and exporters. Its main positioning is to promote the export of Chilean fruit. The association was established in 1935, with member companies covering 207 fresh fruit exporters, 6,000 fruit growers, representing 90%+ of Chilean export fruits and 57.1% of fruit tree plantations.
Chile is located on the South American continent and is the country with the narrowest terrain in the world. Because it is located at the southernmost tip of the American continent and faces Antarctica across the sea, Chile is known as the land of the world.
Having an unparalleled natural barrier is a significant advantage of Chile. The special terrain creates a natural barrier for Chile, making Chile an ideal sacred place for agricultural planting.

Central Chile is one of the world’s six regions with a Mediterranean climate. The summers are hot and dry, and the winters are mild and rainy, providing excellent climatic conditions for the production of crops.
Chile has been exporting fruits for decades. It exports more than 260 fruits to more than 100 countries around the world every year, and is recognized as the largest fruit exporter in the southern hemisphere.
Chile is also the largest supplier of temperate fruits to developing countries. In 2019, 97% of imported cherries, 90% of imported plums, 54% of imported blueberries and 42% of imported grapes came from Chile (data source: China Chamber of Commerce for Food, Native Produce and Livestock Import and Export).
At present, Chilean kiwifruit, apples, grapes, plums, cherries, blueberries, avocados, nectarines, pears, and oranges have all gained access to the Chinese market. Although CIIC is a short distance away, the production area and the market are closely linked by the link of fruit.
The fruit industry is one of Chile’ s main industries. In 2020, Chile’ s fresh fruit exports will account for 9% of the country’ s total exports, which is preceded only by copper mines. The fruit industry creates 570,000+ jobs for Chilean citizens every year, accounting for 8% of the total labor jobs.
The fruit industry is also the most important economic sector in six of Chile’ s 16 regions. Among them, the four regions of O’Higins, Maule, Los Ríos, and La Araucanía account for 15%, 14%, and 11% of the local GDP, respectively. 10%.
Every year, more than 100 fruit companies join the Chilean fruit industry, of which SMEs account for 23% of the entire industry.
