Biennial Asparagus Conference

The programme for this well-established biennial meeting point, conference and trade exhibition for all those in asparagus production is now available. Bookings for the conference and dinner can be made on-line www.asparagusconference.co.uk. For those attending the dinner the night before there is an opportunity to visit Thanet Earth, the UK’s largest glasshouse on Monday 17th July.
Dr Dan Drost from the Utah State University, USA, will address asparagus roots and how to enhance productivity; Dr Robert Simmons from Cranfield University will present on soil management to increase crop longevity and yield optimisation; post-harvest field activities will be discussed by Claire Donkin and Viv Powell of AHDB Horticulture will give an up to date summary of the crop protection products available for asparagus.
In addition, there will be an update on the UK asparagus market trends, from Emma Fencott of Kantar Worldpanel, the Association of Labour Providers will talk on the prospects for the availability of labour in 2018 and a series of workshops will be held in the field after lunch.
There will be a trade exhibition alongside the presentations, with ample time throughout the day for delegates to talk to related trade companies.

This event is kindly being sponsored by DGM Growers, LimGroup, PG Horticulture and Teboza.
